Alternatives

# A flight log app, compared honestly.

App in the Air closed in 2024\. Flighty and YourFlights have never run on Android. OpenFlights, FlightMemory and myFlightradar24 are websites, and Passyport is a new one. Here is what each of them actually does, what Orbit does instead, and — on 6 of 12 rows — what it doesn’t.

Every page names its sources and the date it was checked. If something here is out of date, it is a bug.

## Flight logbooks

Apps that do Orbit's job — recording the flights you have already taken. One has closed, several are free, and each page says where it beats Orbit.

## Adjacent apps

Not logbooks, but they turn up in the same searches and often hold your flight history. Worth keeping alongside Orbit rather than replacing with it.

## The thing every one of these pages says

**Orbit cannot import your flights** from any of these apps, or from anywhere else. There is no importer yet. Whichever you are coming from, moving means typing — three fields per flight, with everything else computed.

If that sounds like an evening you would rather not spend, the [method for rebuilding a flight history](https://orbitflights.app/blog/reconstruct-your-flight-history) makes it a shorter one — and the free tier holds 15 flights, so you can find out whether you like it before committing to the rest.

## Tracker or logbook?

Half the confusion in this category is one word doing two jobs. A tracker tells you where an aircraft is right now. A logbook tells you where you have been. Most people searching for one have been shown the other.

## Asked and answered

### What is the best app to log flights you have already taken?

It depends whether you want a logbook or a tracker. A tracker tells you where an aircraft is now; a logbook tells you where you have been. On Android, for the logbook job, Orbit records every flight from any date and draws them on a globe. If you want live delay alerts as well, you want a tracker alongside it.

### Is there a flight logbook app for Android?

Yes, though fewer than on iPhone — Flighty and YourFlights, two of the best-known apps in this category, are Apple only, and OpenFlights, myFlightradar24 and Passyport are websites. Orbit is Android-first, works offline with all 8,801 airports on the device, and needs no account to start.

### Can I move my flight history from another app into Orbit?

Not automatically. Orbit has no importer yet, so moving means entering flights by hand — three fields each, with distance, hours, countries and milestones computed for you. It is worth knowing before you switch rather than after. OpenFlights and YourFlights both import from other apps, and say so.

### What happened to App in the Air?

It shut down on 19 September 2024 and the window to export your data closed on 19 October 2024\. If you did not export in time, that history is gone and has to be rebuilt from your own records.
