The 777-300ER is the extended-range version of Boeing's stretched 777-300 and was for many years the standard large long-haul twin-jet. At 73.9 m long it carries 350 to 425 passengers in Boeing's typical two-class layout, and it is powered by two GE90-115B engines. Air France introduced it in 2004.

While cruising at 37,000 ft from London to Singapore, the aircraft (9V-SWM) went through severe turbulence over an area of developing convective weather; one passenger died, many occupants were injured, and the flight diverted to Bangkok.

Boeing quotes 350 to 425 seats in a typical two-class layout, and the type is certified for up to 550 passengers. Boeing's airport-planning reference cabin has 370 seats across first, business and ten-abreast economy.

### Which airlines fly the 777-300ER?

Emirates has by far the largest fleet, followed by Qatar Airways, Air France, Turkish Airlines and Saudia. Air France was the launch customer and put it into service in 2004.

### Is the 777-300ER safe?

No 777-300ER has been written off in an accident. Its one fatal accident was Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 in May 2024, when severe turbulence over Myanmar led to the death of one passenger.
