# Airbus A320neo

The A320neo is the re-engined version of Airbus's best-selling A320, fitted with either CFM LEAP-1A or Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines and large wingtip sharklets. It keeps the same fuselage and cabin as the earlier A320, so most airlines seat between 150 and 186 passengers on short and medium-haul routes. Airbus says it burns around a fifth less fuel per seat than the aircraft it replaces.

## Seats and cabin layout

Airbus quotes 150–180 seats in a typical 2-class layout. The type certificate allows at most 195 passengers — the exit limit, which no airline with a premium cabin comes near.

## Asked and answered

### How many seats does the A320neo have?

Airbus quotes 150 to 180 seats in a typical two-class layout, and EASA certifies the A320 series for up to 195 passengers with the relevant modifications. In practice, all-economy airlines such as easyJet fit 186 seats, while SAS uses 180.

### Which airlines fly the A320neo?

According to Airbus's own delivery data at the end of August 2026, the largest A320neo operators were IndiGo, China Eastern Airlines, Air India, SAS and easyJet. More than a hundred airlines fly the wider A320neo family.

### Is the A320neo safe?

Yes. The A320neo has had no accident that killed anyone on board. In 2022 a LATAM Perú aircraft was written off after hitting a fire engine on the runway in Lima, killing three firefighters, and a TAP aircraft landing in Conakry struck a motorcycle on the runway, killing its two riders.

### How far can the A320neo fly?

Airbus gives a maximum range of about 6,300 km (3,400 nautical miles). Airlines mostly use it on short and medium-haul flights of a few hours, within a continent.
